Introducing Inez of Style Chic 360

Inez is a personal style blogger and thrift store superhero. I first came upon Inez when I discovered her blogging network, FashDet( a network of fashion bloggers from Detroit, Michigan which I of course joined immediately). Inez is a social media force to be reckoned with! We welcome Inez’s stories and style in this week’s Blogging Bravely!

The Eye: Have you ever had a time you considered deleting your blog?

Inez: Yes, last year was a very tough year for me and I actually did not blog or interact on social media for almost 4 months.  I had gone through a pregnancy loss and struggled with the thought of returning to the blogging world, during that time it was a struggle for me to find time or even want to blog. As bloggers sometimes we almost feel forced to update and update often, but we have to realize it’s ok if you need time away. Sometimes it’s necessary. When I returned I was ready to share my story and try to recover from it. Taking four months off allowed me time to reevaluate my blog on many different levels and once I did return I was ready to move my blog to the next level.

The Eye: What would you tell a blogger who’s beginning to feel insecure about her pictures?

Inez:Realize that we all have those moments and it’s ok. I would recommend that you find inspiration in photography that you do like.  Try out new locations, angles or poses and just try to have fun with it.

The Eye: What advice would you give a blogger that continues to compare their work to everyone else’s?

Inez: Be the best you, you can be. Do not be consumed with what everyone else is doing.

The Eye: Do you think the fashion blogging industry is becoming competitive and if so is this a bad thing?

Inez: Definitely. The world of blogging is very competitive, with so many blogs out there it’s very easy to get caught up and compare and compete. Competition can be healthy but it can also be a hindrance. Rather than compete with other bloggers, which can become very distracting and unproductive, I focus on my strengths and also try to outdo myself every now and again. Every few months I set goals for my blog, so unsurprisingly, I’ve found that I am my biggest competition because there is always room for growth.

The Eye: Do you have a style icon, if no, why?

Inez: Not, currently but as someone with a very strong eye for detail it’s very easy for me to find inspiration in just about anything. I look to art, color, my surroundings and even other bloggers for inspiration.

The Eye: Where do you consider the best place, or the best setting to take outfit pictures?

Inez: Anywhere with natural light! There is something extra crispy about daytime outdoor photograph!

The Eye: Do you blog as a hobby, or do you want it to grow into something more?

Inez: Over the last year blogging has become more of a business for me; although it is still a hobby that I love I envision Style Chic 360 doing big things in the very near future…that is my goal!

The Eye: Want to give a blogger shoutout?

Inez: First and foremost I must give a shout out to the members of the blogger network I founded FASH DET: Fashion Bloggers of Detroit and also blogger and entrepreneur, Emily Hay who is the founder of TweetTeam.com, who has been a great mentor. I have to also shout out Mattie of Mattielogie.com who is giving me the opportunity of being a panelist during the Style Bloggers of Color conference this year.
