"In the 60's there was a look. In the 70's there was a look, and in the 80's. Now, it's a free-for-all."-Betsey Johnson
Betsey Johnson is aware of the stand out eras of fashion that have been born, but is it safe to say the current state of fashion is a free for all? The 60s,70s and 80s have all had very specific, iconic and identifieable trends and looks. The previous trends have all been remixed, revamped and brought back in true trendy fashion, does this mean the current style of the 2000s is seeing who can come up with the most creative recycled trend?
I love that Betsey Johnson acknowledged that there's a lot more fashion freedom in our era.Johnson is 100% right about the 60s,70s and 80s, you can recognize a 70s look from a mile way and people do 80s inspired looks all the time. I like the idea that our current fashion a product of those prior eras and that the trends we witness is just someone else's creative interpretation.
Johnson ackowledges that it's a free for all in the 2000s, the question is what are we going to do with it and will it stand out enough for us to have our own specific era look. What do you guys think, do you agree that the current state of fashion is a free for all, let me know in the comments.
